Exploring Taipei and Beyond: A Week-Long Adventure

Day 1-2: Arrival and Initial Explorations
Upon arrival in Taipei, the travelers visited Dian Shui Lou restaurant. The following day they headed to Jiufen Historic District, experiencing its unique charm. They also had the chance to eat at Din Tai Fung.
Day 3: Venturing South to Kaohsiung
The group embarked on a 3.5-hour journey south to Kaohsiung. From there, they traveled to Dongan Marina to catch a ferry to Luchu Island, hoping to spot sea turtles.
Day 4: Mountain Views and Sunset in Taipei
Back in Taipei, they explored Xiangshan Park, hiking up Mount Xiang Shan for panoramic city views. Despite the steep steps, they found the mountainous landscape surprisingly beautiful. They also took in a beautiful sunset.
Day 5: Windy Mountain Roads and Unexpected Flavors
A windy bus ride took them up Yangmingshan. While the scenery was stunning, a restaurant experience proved challenging. The chicken soup contained wine that hadn't been cooked, making it difficult to consume. Fortunately, the day turned sunny, offering fresh mountain air. The travellers ended the day at a night market.
Day 6: Soy Milk, Volcanoes, and Waterfalls
The day began with a visit to Yonghe Soy Milk, arguably the best soy milk in the city. The group then ventured to Yanmingshan National Park, where they witnessed volcanic activity and hiked to a waterfall. The hike and national park felt untouched by over-tourism. They also found a cute cafe that roasted their own coffee beans.
Day 7: Culture, Gardens, and a Haircut
The group started with the best soybean milk in Taipei. They visited the National Palace Museum and its gardens, admiring the dragon fountain. In the evening, they enjoyed won ton soup for dinner before heading for a haircut.
Day 8: Hot Springs and Presidential Palaces
The day included a relaxing trip to Yang Ming Shan Tienlai Hot Springs, a 1.5-hour taxi ride from Sheilin. They enjoyed the sunset before dinner. Finally, they visited the Taipei Presidential Palace
Final Day: Farewell Taipei
The final day involved a walk to the presidential palace and a stroll in the park before dinner, marking the end of their Taipei adventure. Departure was scheduled for 2:45 p.m. the next day.
