Finding the Ideal Place to Live: A Global Journey
After traveling to 193 countries and living in seven, Koala shares her experiences and reveals the one place that truly resonated with her. It wasn't about wealth, size, or popularity, but about finding a country that offered safety, efficiency, and peace of mind. She recounts her experiences in different continents, highlighting what each country taught her about her own values and ultimately led her to her chosen home.
New Single Release
Before diving into her experiences, Koala announces the release of her new single, "One World," which celebrates 40 different countries and regions. This release coincides with her birthday week and serves as a musical exploration of the themes she discusses in the video. She also mentions a happy birthday song on her Koala Keys channel for those born in June.
Europe: France
Her European experience was limited to France, where she studied and worked. French cuisine impressed her with its delicate cooking methods and aesthetic presentation, even at affordable prices. However, life outside of Paris felt limiting, with businesses closing early and limited Sunday services. The high cost and inconvenience of transportation also impacted her. This experience taught her the importance of convenience in her ideal living situation.
The Americas: United States
As an American, she expresses her pride in the country's emphasis on equality, freedom of speech, and the opportunity to achieve one's dreams through hard work. However, a personal experience involving a home intrusion highlighted growing safety concerns. This event led her to prioritize safety above all else in her search for the perfect place to live. She emphasizes that many people assume her travel to "dangerous countries" is scary, but she has faced far more safety concerns in the US.
Asia-Pacific: Australia
Living in Australia, she enjoyed the relaxed lifestyle, nature, and wide-open spaces. The pace of life, however, was slow. While similar to San Francisco in some ways, she found it impossible to save money due to high rent quoted weekly and significant taxes. This experience revealed her need for a sustainable lifestyle—a place where she could afford to live comfortably.
Asia: India
India offered a luxurious lifestyle at an affordable price. She had the benefit of daily help and lived like royalty in Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi. Unfortunately, the constant harassment on the streets and chaotic environment compromised her inner peace. While appreciative of the luxury, she ultimately realized that personal tranquility was more important.
Asia: Japan
Japan impressed her with its exceptional cuisine and meticulous attention to detail. However, the extreme clash between traditional and modern values created a cultural dissonance that she couldn't reconcile. She realized that aligning with a society's core values was crucial for her happiness.
Asia: China
China offered great value for money, especially regarding online shopping and technology. She appreciated the diverse culture and history. However, the sheer number of people and the restrictions on internet access (Google, Gmail, YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, overseas bank accounts) proved to be too much. Living in Shanghai taught her the value of efficiency and freedom of online access.
