My Cantonese Friend's Spicy Adventure and Parisian Chinese Food Exploration
My Cantonese Friend's Spicy Encounter
This is the story of my Cantonese friend who ate a mildly spicy dish. He found it extremely spicy, exclaiming that it was going to kill him and make him cry, even though there was no added pepper, just rice. We decided to take him to a Sichuan restaurant, where he tried a dish called "shangxin liangfen," which literally translates to "sadness heartbreak cold noodles" because it's so spicy it makes you cry.
Living in a Fairy Tale Castle
We also had the opportunity to stay in a gorgeous castle for a week, which was a childhood dream come true for me. It was a magical experience that made me feel like a Disney princess. I want to thank my friend who owns the castle for letting me stay and unleash my inner princess.
Returning to Reality and Heading to Paris
After our fantasy life at the castle, it was time to return to reality and head to Paris. I was excited to finally do some food adventuring and meet someone special, Alice.
Meeting Peter in Paris
In Paris, we met Peter, who is fluent in French. We had a great time catching up and exploring the city. Peter also took us to a Chinese food hotspot in the 13th arrondissement, which is a cultural melting pot of southern Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Cambodian influences.
Exploring the Chinese Food in Paris
At the Chinese restaurant, we tried a variety of dishes, including Chinese rice noodle soup, papaya salad, Thai stir fry, chicken feet, and loc lac. The food was delicious and authentic, and we had a great time trying new things.
Fusion Food in Paris
We also discovered some interesting fusion food in Paris, including a hot pot that is known as "fondue" in France and an Asian baker that sells macarons with unique flavors like durian.
Japanese French Fusion Patisserie
We visited a Japanese French fusion patisserie in the seventh district that specializes in macarons. The macarons were delicious and had a variety of interesting flavors, including wasabi.
Playing Petanque in Paris
We also had the opportunity to play petanque, a traditional French game, in a park in Paris. It was a fun and relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
Dinner at a Sichuan Restaurant
For dinner, we went to a Sichuan restaurant in the third arrondissement that was recommended by Peter. The food was spicy and delicious, and we had a great time trying new dishes.
Cultural Exchange between France and China
We also learned about the cultural exchange between France and China throughout history. There has always been an appreciation for the orient in France, and many French monks went to China during the Qing dynasty to teach and learn.
Quiz Time
We also had a fun quiz to test our knowledge of history, geography, and culture. It was a great way to learn something new and have some fun.
Conclusion
Overall, our trip to Paris was a great experience. We had the opportunity to explore the city, try new food, and learn about different cultures. I would highly recommend visiting Paris to anyone who is interested in history, culture, and food.
