Nexus Golfing Resort and Reflections on Education & Life

Visiting Nexus Golfing Resort

Welcome back to the channel. Currently, I'm at Nexus Golfing Resort near Shaba University, a place my husband frequents for golf. The environment is stunning. It's so beautiful, even more so than Hawaii. Its Chinese name is Galan Wenlai Resort.

The resort boasts its own 18-hole golf course. We often participate in events here on weekends. We were excited to find a room for only 288 RMB per night on the weekends, so we decided to book it. Locals say that when it was first built, it was known as the closest place to heaven.

The Resort's Design and Room

The resort is located a bit outside the city, near Sabah University. The design, attributed to Pororo by Google AI, utilizes natural materials. This style, with its local characteristics, is timeless and perfectly suits the environment. The beauty here is striking.

While the room rate was a great deal due to Mother's Day vouchers and discounts, my dad mentioned that using these discounts meant we were assigned an older, unrenovated room located further inside the resort. But the beauty of the surroundings makes it worthwhile. There's a pond and a sea view, reminiscent of a longhouse.

Finding Peace and Beauty

As a blogger, I face criticism, even harsh words. Coming out to see beautiful places like this helps me recharge. With a small pond, a beach, mountains, and water, it feels like paradise. Those who haven't lived here may not understand my appreciation for this place, as it's quite distant from the city. The scenery is reminiscent of Monet's "Sleeping Lotus."

Thoughts on the Future of Education

Thinking about my own normal upbringing, where I didn't obsess over academic scores or prestigious schools, leads me to consider the future of education. I believe the prestige associated with certain schools will diminish.

I read a humorous article about someone claiming to have been admitted to Harvard but then expelled. This highlights a shift in perception. Increasingly, attending top American universities is becoming the domain of wealthy families. The focus has shifted from academic excellence to financial capability.

Dining at the Resort and the Value of Experiencing the World

The 288 RMB stay included two free morning tea tickets. We enjoyed the morning tea experience at Gui Bin Lou, even though the breakfast was quite ordinary. It is better to eat outside, not in the hotel. However, we are here for the environment, so we don't expect too much.

Regarding education, I firmly believe in the importance of children experiencing the world. My time studying in the U.S. broadened my perspective and gave me different values than people in China. This experience was invaluable.

Reflections on the Room and Location

The room has a dated sink and tub, a throwback to the past. However, the sea view is stunning and makes the older room worthwhile. Walking up to the beach reveals scenery far more beautiful than Hawaii.

My dad says this hotel is actually in the middle of the city. We were assigned an older room, potentially due to nearby construction. The price is lower than a motel but feels like a five-star luxury hotel in Hawaii.

Experiences as an Amazon Seller

During my time as an Amazon seller in the early days, qualifications weren't scrutinized. I registered with over 100 products, and they all sold out quickly. Back then, success on Amazon was almost guaranteed.

Today, with increased competition and economic challenges, selling on Amazon is much more difficult.

The Cycle of Opportunity

Through this experience, I learned a valuable lesson: avoid mainstream trends. When everyone is doing the same thing, it's time to move on. This is the harsh reality for many Amazon sellers. Returns are the new reality.

Leaving the United States

Some have speculated that I left the United States because I wasn't successful. In recent years, we encountered scams and a shift in the atmosphere, turning sunny California "as dark as hell." Many others have experienced similar issues.

America, once perceived as a haven, has become a haven for scammers. Those willing to abandon their conscience can thrive there. The legal system can be exploited, making law school the pinnacle of talent.

Sabah as a Place to Raise Children

Ordinary people often remain unaware of these deeper issues, especially if they are simply employed. After experiencing this darkness, I realized that the U.S. is no longer a suitable environment for raising children. I chose Sabah because my husband is from here.

Westerners often lack awareness of East Malaysia. This presents a unique opportunity. The racial integration and lower expenses compared to Xima (West Malaysia) make it an ideal place to raise children. The minimum is about 200,000 yuan a year. It's 1 million yuan in five years. Wouldn't it be better to use this 1 million yuan to buy a house, buy land, and buy other industries?

The Importance of Perspective and Home

Studying abroad is a gateway to another world. The key is choosing that world wisely, considering whether it's heaven or hell.

Many who leave Sabah eventually return, finding it uniquely comfortable. Wealthy families encourage their children to explore the world but ultimately contribute to their hometown.

Opportunities in Sabah

Development may be slower here, but the people are patient, and opportunities abound. Solving a social problem can open up entire industries. My hope for my children is not to become extraordinary but to possess the courage and ability to solve problems. I want them to be free, unconstrained, and ideally, contribute to Sabah, the closest place to heaven.

Many view Malaysia as a stepping stone, but I believe it's better to thrive here. Starting a business in Asia, particularly one related to natural resources like oil, natural gas, wood, and tourism, offers significant potential. Architecture and service-related industries also provide opportunities.

Embracing Developing Countries

With ample resources and a smaller population, Sabah offers a promising environment. In developing countries, wealth accumulation can be faster. The goal is to enter the market at a low point and sell at a high point. We left the United States with this mindset.

The U.S. never truly felt like home. After living abroad for a long time, you know whether a place resonates with you. Heaven is that peaceful home within. Living in the present, embracing simplicity, and appreciating life's breath is the true path to happiness.
